The detail

Glycerin is produced as a by-product of vegetable-oil soap making (palm, coconut, soy), synthesised from propylene, or rendered from animal fat. HalalExpo's checker records plant-derived glycerin as accepted by JAKIM, BPJPH, MUIS and all GCC certifiers, and porcine glycerin as unanimously rejected. ISA states E422 is haram if obtained from pork or non-halal-certified meat sources. IFANCA lists glycerin among mashbooh ingredients across candy, gum and mouthwash. HalalCodeCheck notes the Hanafi, Maliki and Shafi'i mainstream accepts a 'suitable for vegetarians/vegans' disclosure, while the stricter HMC-leaning view prefers formal certification.
